We were working towards the style of Performance with our section of the music video. The conventions include variety of shots, non static camera, lots of close ups especially in performance videos, cutting to the beat, changes of mise-en-scene (costume, location and props).
Overall the music video section we had quickly turned into a more comical performance with our props (bike, claw slippers) but we still included the conventions above. We used a variety of shots, with many close ups and cut to the beat.
However I would improve the filming process if we had more time by shooting more takes and ensure our 'singer' if we choose to do a performance style in the future will sing the lyrics not just mime so it is more accurate with the lyrics when editing the clips together, as some of our clips are out of sync.
Research and Planning:
Our main sources of research were from watching the Thrift Shop video since it is in the Performance style. We also watched other Performance music videos within the same genre to see the type of conventions they include.
The conventions we came up with were: visuals interlink with lyrics, lots of close ups, cutting to the beat etc.
Our planning for the remake of the section we were given was limited to a shooting script due to the time we had to complete it. If we had more time I would do more planning for our locations and actors like with our BSR opening sequence.

Conventions/Post Production:
I think we did stick to the conventions of a music video such as close ups, a variety of shots and a non static camera. We did cut to the beat of the song however due to our actress not singing when filming our lyrics appear out of sync after the edit.
Creativity:
I think we were creative when making the music video section, even if it turned into a more comical remake, we ensured our visuals interlink with the lyrics. For example, "rollin' in" Macklemore is clearly talking about a car but we decided to have the shot involve a bike and "Piiissssss" this scene is filmed in the boys toilets.
Camera work has improved since it was purely filmed hand held and the shots are not shaky. The music video was edited in Final Cut which was time consuming since we have limited experience with this software but we are now more confident with it.
